The spectator holds 3 mind sticks, each one containing 8 random symbols. The performer turns away, and the spectator is instructed to look at any one of the eight designs, and to stare at it intently in order to lock it into their mind. There is NO FORCE! The spectator then mixes the 3 sticks, and covers all the symbols so that there is no chance that anyone could discover which design was memorized. The performer turns back around, simply passes their hand over the sticks, and instantly names the freely thought-of design!
